Bio
Dr. Nir Barzilai is the founding director of the Institute for Aging Research and a professor of medicine and genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is also the Director of both the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research and of the National Institutes of Health’s Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging. He is leading an international effort to approve drugs that can target aging, was featured on the cover of New York Magazine for his story on Ashkenazi Jews and longevity, and formerly served as the chief medic of the Israeli army. Dr. Barzilai serves on the bio-ethics panel of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, was the chair of the Association of Reform Zionists of America’s World Union Committee, on the Board of Trustees of Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains, New York, and was named as one of the top 50 most influential Jews in the United States by Forward 50.
